13. Jesus, Mary Magdalene & the Thirteenth Aeon

Last SupperForget about the book.  Let’s have a conversation. That’s all that’s left after all is said and done anyway: just you and me and the rest of our human brothers and sisters dialoguing our way through the problems and into solution-consciousness.

I’ll start and you just chime in whenever you feel like it.

Here’s the essence of my thoughts last fall when I tripped over something I wasn’t looking for while I was on a quest to find something else … this is a sequence of posts to one of my discussion groups where I share things like this so we can kick them around while I settle into a position to take on behalf of The Quintessential Ophiuchus …

[If you want to follow along with me, you can read the book I'm referring to too.  There are downloads at the bottom of this page.]

  • Mars transits the nubs where the claws of Scorpius the Scorpion were snipped to make the 12th Constellation Libra
  • Moon transits Sextans beneath Alpha Leo, Regulus, the Royal Heart of the Lion

You know how it is — someone sends you a link to something they know you will like and you don’t get to it for 5 or 10 years … well, here is something I just got around to reading.

Mary Magdalene

Mary Magdalene | Pistis Sophia

I am sharing this important Gnostic work with anyone interested in spiritual anthropology, Constellation Ophiuchus, Asclepius and Jesus as savior figures. It is GRS Mead’s second and most important edition of his work PISTIS SOPHIA. It’s pretty incredible, if you know how to grok the significance of it.

This book is not an easy read but the number of pages is deceptive. There isn’t a lot of content per-page. You may have to be on a quest for knowledge and thirsty as a parched camel for information about how things came to be, both in terms of how the ancient wisdom was lost to the new religion (Christianity) and what happened to the power and standing of the Divine Feminine on this planet.

If I hadn’t belaboured this question already over the past 10 years I would right now be confused as to whether to sob out my sorrow or be angry. As it is, I’m pretty much over it. But beginning at page 93 of the text I found yet more ammunition that supports my theories concerning the significance and relevance of Constellation Ophiuchus as I have come to grok it.

My overall and lasting impressions after reading Pistis Sophia almost twice (by the time I went back to highlight key passages) are as follows:

I don’t think it is out of the realm of reason to correlate the thirteenth aeon of Pistis Sophia with the 13th sign, that being Constellation Ophiuchus.

In all the time I have spent researching the roots of Constellation Ophiuchus, I have spent a lot of time being emotionally stuck between my Christian roots and my new gnosis concerning the esoteric and exoteric wisdom of world cultures (specifically the Egyptian and Greek in this case).

As a child I loved Jesus and my Bible stories; later in life as I embarked on my Goddess Spirituality path, I became angry at men. After discovering the abrupt and mysterious end of Goddess Spirituality and the abrupt and violent end of the path of Asclepius, God of Wisdom & Healing at the hands of the Christian Soldiers crusading for Christ, I was REALLY conflicted.

Currently reading ISIS UNVEILED (Blavatsky) and Pistis Sophia has opened my eyes and connected some vital dots for me in my virtual sky (no pun intended but the metaphor fits).

I now see how the pieces fit together so all may meet and kiss in grace and peace (to coin a phrase used in Pistis Sophia, however badly I have remembered it).

I now see that the third revival of Asclepius and the second coming of Christ are one and the same. As God of Wisdom & Healing, the savior role of Asclepius was implied and latent. For it to be actualized, he did have to be thrown under the bus by his successor-in-interest, Jesus of Nazareth.

So I concede, the 13th Constellation does have Christ properties.

However, as I maintained when I stopped writing my “book draft” – the Goddess is what is supposed to be there, not Asclepius, and not Jesus.  Christianity abhorred the snake.  Jesus walked under the banner of the lamb and the shepherd’s crook.  Although the 5th, Creative, element certainly alludes to Christ, the energy in that slot is essentially feminine. So, I wondered how that would all work out.

All the elements combine in Constellation Ophiuchus so that none is left out, not Asclepius, not Goddess, not Jesus. The mysteries can all be answered in this section of the sky. I did not run across one reference that seemed to be a thread out of place in this cosmic tapestry spanning time and creation.

  • Mars at the Heart of Ophiuchus
  • Mercury in Ophiuchus separating from alignment with Alpha Scorpius, Antares the Heart of the Scorpion
  • Moon in Pisces

I sure don’t know, but the Buddhists are in there somewhere. It sounds like Buddhism is the connecting thread that links the Oriental and Christian mythos through Gnosticism as a sort of meeting ground. There were apparently a variety of what I’m hearing described as “pre-Christian” or “Christian” sects long before Christianity as we know it was fully formed and the Bible put together by the “Church Fathers”. This is my current understanding (subject to correction and/or refinement).

So now, following along on our conversation thread that started with Pistis Sophia, I’m now seeing Ophiuchus in a “trans-personality” way. My grasp now is beyond the mythos of the man or the archetype. Exploring the Ophites, I can see clearly the relevance to the book The Return of the Serpents of Wisdom by Mark Amaru Pinkham.

Did everyone get that book? It really is interesting. I don’t seem to be able to stick with too many books these days.  This book held my attention from first to last.

So here’s where I’m at with the book (I figured this out today): I started with a body of stars that included Asclepius, Imhotep and Thoth. I progressed to finding the Lost Great Goddess and a place in Constellation Ophiuchus for the Minoan Serpent Goddess of Crete. And now I’m seeing how the Christos, Jesus, Christ, and Mary (possibly Mary Magdalene too) have their place in Constellation Ophiuchus, carrying the water-lit torch for Goddess, the Hidden and Unnamed.

If you read the material on Ophites after reading Pistis Sophia and my book draft, you can see by now a recurrence of the same puzzle pieces over and over again, now turned from the legends of a man into icons and symbols for concepts and a living tree of life, floating in the air, flashing, and with a serpent wending its way through.

At this “beyond information” level, there is no characterizing or personalizing Ophiuchus. Ophiuchus means literally Serpent Holder or Serpent Bearer. When “Zeus placed Asclepius in the sky” he called the stars Ophiuchus, not Asclepius. I have always maintained there is a good reason why the writers of the books recorded it that way consistently. Some of the quoted resources I have drawn from I got out of the collected works of scholars and these same men now I find were Gnostics and — now I see — they were Ophites as well.

It’s not necessarily a man who is embedded in the sky but a book or a manual or a map, or maybe all of these, drawing from Atlantean, Egyptian, Greek/Greco-Egyptian, Greco-Roman, Buddhist, pre-Christian-Christian gnosis and it’s filed under the title OPHIUCHUS, a generic volumne, not Asclepius, a geo-centric, culture-specific age or hero.

That having been said, each representative of the collective archetype (“collective archetype” was one of the early phrases I wanted to use in my Ophiuchus book title) is a true hero or their mythos would not have survived to contribute a chapter to the book.

This is literally an Akashic Record. Akasha is Ether. Living Light. Read the definition of the Ophites’ concepts on the Emanations of Creation. Not that the Ophite version is THE RIGHT version (who knows?), but certainly the stars of Ophiuchus are up there so the Ophite version is probably not just “close to it”, but the definitive book to use in addressing the problems we face as we head into 2012. So in terms of a Decoder Ring, I would use the Ophite Diagram.

What do you all think about that?

That’s my current concept. Subject to change or refinement. This is how my whole book writing project has gone. Like a snake. It sheds its skin once every year or two and shows me brand new colors. I love it. It’s been a great path to be on.

  • Sun in Ophiuchus aligned with Alpha Scorpius, Antares
  • Mars in Ophiuchus aligned with Beta Ophiuchus, Cebalrai
  • Moon in Constellation Virgo separating from conjunction with Alpha Virgo, Spica and applying to a conjunction with Venus in Virgo

When I get to the point of pulling all of this together to add to the infamous ‘book’ it is rumored I’m still writing, I will probably expect to find the following snippet here in this Blog about the Pistis Sophia.

I’m reading Blavatsky’s Isis Unveiled, the “abridged” version (thank Goddess someone wrote a “Cliff’s Notes” version for those of us who don’t have the viscera to go the distance anymore).

PART TWO: RELIGION, Chapter 23 The Vedas and the Bible

p. 218

Nearly all the prophecies about Christ are credited to the patriarchs and prophets. If a few of the latter may have existed as real personages, every one of the former is a myth. We will endeavor to prove it by [here's where my jaw hit the floor] the hidden interpretation of the zodiac and the relations of its signs to these antediluvian men.

[skip some paragraphs - get to the point]

p. 219

This stupendous conception [the true nature (according to HPB and her resources) of creation and the cycles of expansion and contraction] the ancients synthesized for the instruction of the common people into a single pictorial design–the zodiac, or celestial belt. Instead of the twelve signs now used, there were originally but ten known to the general public, viz.: Aries, Taurus, Gemini, Cancer, Leo, Virgo-Scorpio, Sagittarius, Capricornus, Aquarius, and Pisces. These were exoteric. But in addition there were two mystical signs inserted, which none but initiates comprehended, viz.: at the middle or junction point where Libra now stands at the sign now called Scorpio, which follows Virgo. When it was found necessary to make them exoteric, these two secret signs were added under their present appellations as blinds, to conceal the true names which gave the key to the whole secret of creation and divulged the origin of “good and evil.”

  • Sun in Constellation Gemini – yes, it’s me thinking again
  • Moon
    • conjunct Jupiter and Sheratan (Beta Aries) in Constellation Aries (Ecliptic coordinates)
    • conjunct Jupiter and Hamal (Alpha Aries) in Constellation Aries (Equatorial coordinates)

I’m skimming and re-reading parts of Pistis Sophia this morning.  It occurs to me I ought to enter my position in case anyone else is thinking of boarding this thought train I’m on and needs to know where it’s headed as we approach 12/21/2012.

For the record my position is that the material offered in Pistis Sophia is not the Alpha and Omega of it.

Perhaps it is up to Mary to elevate herself into the Thirteenth Aeon herself and be rid of the suppressors once and for all by eliminating the thought from her mind that she needs anyone’s permission, even Jesus’s to seek more Light and ascend into her own Aeon.

If her crime was that she wanted more Light so she could sit in the Divine Presence, perhaps being so long sojourned in Chaos she does not realize that Light and Divine Presence are within her own bosom.  She may have only to decide she is fully there to actualize the final step of the process.  Form follows Thought.

About Donna

I initiated my mysticism & occult path with a course in Astrology from the Rosicrucian Fellowship in 1970. In 1987 as I was preparing to become a professional Astrologer I bought a sky atlas for fun and found constellation Ophiuchus walking along the zodiac belt. I was shocked. I've dedicated myself to evolving Astrology for the New Age ever since then. Let those with the ears to hear, hear. Take what resonates. Leave the rest.
