In 2002 when Astronomers announced the discovery of potential new planet Quaoar Astrologers happily jumped on the bandwagon. They liked the name Astronomers chose and everything about the mythology behind the name. What was not to like?
Well apparently, what was not to like was the constellation Quaoar was transiting at the time because Astrologers for the most part ignored it or wrote articles marginalizing it. Of course I’m talking about Constellation Ophiuchus, the so-called 13th Zodiac Constellation.
This article is the third in a series so far consisting of
- 50000 Quaoar ~ Singing & Dancing New Gods Into Existence which please see for foundation and background information.
- Ophiuchus Tips for Astrologers ~ Pluto also talks abut the Quaoar Effect on Constellation Ophiuchus and hints Quaoar’s work there had something to do with the fate of newly dwarfed planet Pluto.
- This article; and
- There will be one more.
Let’s pretend for a few minutes – say for the length of this article – that we believe all of the wild stories we’re reading and telling each other and ourselves about the miracles and positive magic that’s supposed to be happening on this planet as we enter the Age of Aquarius. According to the Astrology of Quaoar, one of those magical miracles would be that somehow heroic new gods are going to be sung and danced into existence. Well, take a look around. Are the gods that are running this planet doing such a good job that we can afford to look a gift horse in the mouth? Are you relegated to your lot in life as mapped out for you by the gods we pay tribute to who have promised to act in our and the Earth Mother’s best interests but don’t? (And let me be clear about what I mean when I say ‘the gods’ with a lower case g ‘that are running this planet’; I mean the leaders and elected officials we pay to represent us and our planet.)
This is not a trick question: Would a new god of wisdom and healing with a squeaky-clean reputation and track record represent welcome change on this planet, or what?
So now for those of you who weren’t already aware of the splash Ophiuchus made on January 13, 2011 when the news broke that the zodiac signs were all changing, now you are.
In the short space of 24 hours this story was picked up by all the major networks and spread like wildfire across the Internet. By January 14 Ophiuchus and the “13th Sign” were the “trending” hot topic on all the news boards. Search engines out on the ‘net were introducing the general public to new Zodiac Constellation Ophiuchus the Serpent Holder, patterned after an ancient line of personal and planetary healers and serpents of illumined wisdom … this message brought to you by Tongva creator deity Quaoar on January 13, 2011.
The Quaoar Effect operating on Ophiuchus
If you read through the astronomical Ephemeris in the 50000 Quaoar piece on Astronomologer, you may have noticed my diary entry for January 13, 2011. In it I remarked that on the day the news broke, Quaoar was transiting Constellation Serpens and aligned with Alpha Ophiuchus, the apex star in the triangular head-and-shoulders area of the constellation. Here is a mini-Ephemeris for January 11-15, 2011.

And here are the coordinates for Alpha Ophiuchus:
The Alpha star of any constellation is normally the largest, brightest, and most important. Hence, it is fair to say this alignment marks a potent and key time point in the daily operations of our living cosmos. What this alignment demonstrates in particular is that Ophiuchus’s “Grand Opening” to the public was not a random event. It didn’t “just happen.” Quaoar’s forward motion on that day coinciding with the Ecliptic Longitude1 of Ophiuchus’s Alpha Star was the cosmic cause behind the physical effect of a receptive Minnesota Astronomer releasing an item of Astronomy news to a miracle-hungry general public. And as we can also see by comparing the Ecliptic Longitude numbers, the job wasn’t quite finished yet. Quaoar was only just beginning to open up the coffin and sing and dance the new deity into revived life.
These three vital functions were triggered in one sweeping time point event (there are probably other effects we haven’t yet identified):
- Ophiuchus awareness was entered into mainstream consciousness worldwide;
- The Quaoar Effect was demonstrated; and
- Due to the body of stars Quaoar as actually transiting at the time, that being in Constellation Serpens, we were given a demonstrable preview of what Serpent Power in action looks and feels like.
And this is only the beginning.
Right now today Quaoar is in Serpens separating from an alignment with Alpha Ophiuchus. You can see where he is on the sky map above which I actually made a few days ago. Quaoar is pulling away from the alignment to Alpha Ophiuchus but he’s Retrograde (apparently moving backwards). So this gives us plenty of time to reconsider old and new information and align ourselves together – those who so choose – with Quaoar and Ophiuchus on November 1, 2011 (that’s 11/1/11 for those who resonate with date numerology) when Quaoar resumes Direct motion and begins to apply to its next Direct alignment with Alpha Ophiuchus which peaks in January 2012.
We are all in this very moment standing on the brink of a better tomorrow. There is New Light on the horizon and that New Light is coming from the Galaxy Center end of the Galactic Equator (the blue line in the sky map above) where Ophiuchus was carved out of Scorpio in 1930. But there is more work to be done and you need to be on board with the Source of it to make the most of the magic and the miracles to come and to activate them in your personal life. The first rule of healing is, the healing applied must be accepted to be effective.
Old habits die hard
Though I lean on Astrologers pretty hard in my articles I mean no offence. And neither do Astronomers. To me it’s a form of Tough Love. I live in Astrologyland too. Or at least I did until 1987 when I got my first glimpse of an unexpected extra constellation on the Zodiac Belt. That discovery really rocked my world. Now that I look back on it, Quaoar, up there but not officially discovered yet, was transiting Constellation Libra at the time. Is it any small wonder? I was in the process of opening my doors as a professional Astrologer after 17 years of study and practice. After taking one look at a sky atlas I was thrown off balance. I weighed my options and decided I didn’t feel qualified to recommend myself as a professional anymore. I knew I didn’t know enough to be dispensing advice to clients paying me to help direct them in their lives. If Astrology is an art-science based on the stars and other bodies in the sky it stood to perfect reason in my mind that the science part of the art needs to be accurate. Wouldn’t you say? So in my case I decided to explore the other side of the astrological equation – the astronomy view. Can you hear the Libra under- and over-tones in my description of what was going on with me in 1987?
What was going on with YOU in 1987? I invite you to participate in this conversation!
Change is hard but Change is the one constant in the Living Universe. Or the dead one for that matter. Quaoar is here to sing and dance changes into our lives and as we can see, this idea has been taken out of the realm of rhetoric and wishful thinking. It is a New Earth physical plane-demonstrated reality.
I just remembered something. Thoth, Imhotep, Hermes Trimegistus and the Asclepiads were all Masters of the celestial arts including astronomy and astrology, such as it may have been that far back in antiquity. So Quaoar is awakening that impulse in us, too.
Reconstructing the ‘pre-unveiling of Ophiuchus’ Quaoar Transit
In the next installment in this series we’re going to take a look back in recent time to see what else Quaoar has been doing up there among the Zodiac Signs while we were sleeping.
The official Quaoar discovery date was June 5, 2002. Where were you, and where was Quaoar? And what could we have been singing and dancing into existence together that we haven’t uncovered yet?
- Ecliptic Longitude marks the 360° of the Zodiac Belt measured astronomically. ↩

Wooohooo, I can’t wait!
I am so glad you mentioned the astrology connection with Thoth, Imhotep and all….I have been told that I would be good at astrology. But I have never been able absorb it.
BTW, reading The Return of the serpents of Wisdom, I feel a closer connection to the pyramids of Mexico and Lemura. About 5 years ago I was in Teotihuacan (I was also there at around 11 and I did get to the top) , I couldn’t climb to the top of the pyramid, I got half way up and felt a fire envelop me. I felt sick for about two days, something big had taken place within me. But I am not quite discovering what until now.
Dear Gloria,
It is probably best for those who will be getting into the celestial arts that you have acquired as few old habits as possible to have to think about let alone try to break. I started my Astrology path in 1970 and discovered Ophiuchus in 1987. I emptied out for a number of years — that is to say I did no astrology whatsoever for a few years while I went back to school to get degrees in computer sciences. Then as I eased back into metaphysics I slipped back into Astrology by using a planetarium program, not an astrology program. I started with the basics. Constellations and Planets. And I learned about the celestial sphere from scratch. I’m no scholar, my practice is rudimentary. But using all 88 constellations and all of the deep space objects and the entire sphere gives us PLENTY to work with.
I have yet to get to Ophiuchus in Mexico and South America. The mythology and connections are richest on the ‘other side of the GMT’ so that’s where I focused. Two words: Feathered Serpent. A third: Quetzalcoatl. We will be getting to him eventually.
\o/
YES yes! Let’s get to Quetzalcoat! Donna, this is getting waayyy more interesting than i anticipated
Excellent. You can bet there is a lot more where that came from. I have more to post to finish up the Quaoar sequence. And I have a lot more “Oph Insider” information to impart. I’ve been collecting this stuff since 1987.
This morning I was going over some material on the Native cultures of the North Americas and I need to share that too. As I view the artifacts I find the resemblance between Aztec and Mayan depictions of their peoples and the Native Middle North Americans’ depictions give the impression there is an unbroken line of relations here.
Hence, I believe, the underpinnings of the Eagle-Condor Prophecy is hinted at. We will get to this eventually.
