A Rose for you from Asteroid 4581 Asclepius ~ working with Gemini

Rosette Nebula, Constellation Monoceros the Unicorn

Talk about cosmic timing and the benefits of learning how to connect with the Celestial Intelligences, here is a beautiful example of the kind of experience you will miss out on if you’re using an astrology program to check planetary placements when things are going all wonky or you simply need help planning your day.

I always have a lot to say. I’ve got almost 25 years worth of stuff to share about Constellation Ophiuchus and Astrology in the Space Age. Notwithstanding that, it’s so much a part of me after 25 years most days I wake up taking it all for granted and I sit here with writer’s block – uninspired.

Well today I opened my planetarium program on a whim to check the location of Asteroid 4581 Asclepius in case that would inspire me. All it took was one look at the Ecliptic Longitude, 098.8683°. That did the trick.

Why? Just take a look at the Rosette Nebula (pictured above). This beautiful diffuse nebula located at 098.1070° Ecliptic Longitude, -18.1792° Ecliptic Latitude in Constellation Monoceros, the Unicorn, has been the motivating celestial intelligence behind many of my most cosmic and memorable moments since the first time I saw it on an APOD page (Astronomy Picture of the Day). Rosette Nebula has even been known to inspire someone to – yes it’s true – send me roses! And not just once or twice!

Let me introduce you to two celestial intelligences who have demonstrated to me and the groups I work with that they are game to be worked with.

Rosette Nebula

You know what they say, if it looks like a duck and quacks like a duck, it’s probably a duck.

In the case of the Rosette Nebula, it looks like a Rose and it’s been behind so many cosmic moments in my life where I’ve ended up with Roses on my desk whether real, imaged, or symbolic, it’s virtually quacking.

I seriously doubt I’m the only person on this planet that Rosette Nebula will communicate with. So here she is and I do hope that as you begin to factor her into your Astrology or Astronomology readings you will consider prescribing aroma therapy (preferably Attar of Roses of course) when she is conjoined and the situation calls for it.

Constellation Monoceros is located south of Constellation Gemini so it is included as a celestial energy in the “Gemini Sector” of the Celestial Sphere. (See sky map below.)

One of the attributes of Zodiac Constellation-sign Gemini is sense of smell (more on that later). Don’t forget, the body’s olfactory system conducts sensory signals directly to the brain. Sense of smell is a powerful thing. Think about it. The protuberance on your face that takes in air and smells (the nose) is unique in that what it takes in goes directly into the nervous system affecting the mind, brain and body directly for better or worse, and it can affect you adversely without the nose or any part of the olfactory system having to be damaged (i.e., physical pain induced or injury caused). How do you stop an obnoxious odor or noxious gas once you’ve taken it in through your nose? Hence the importance and power of aromatherapy.

Asteroid 4581 Asclepius

Asteroid’s Passing a ‘Close Call’ for Earth, NASA Says

April 20, 1989 | From United Press International

An asteroid half a mile wide, blazing through space at nearly 50,000 m.p.h., skirted past Earth last month in a cosmic “close call” unrivaled in the last 50 years, NASA officials said Wednesday.

The asteroid, identified as 1989FC, passed within 500,000 miles of Earth–about twice the distance to the moon–on March 23, the National Aeronautics and Space Administration reported.

Los Angeles Times April 20, 1989

Sombrero Galaxy | Constellation Virgo

Apollo class Asteroid 4581 Asclepius was discovered on March 31, 1989 after having passed by Earth on March 22, 1989, at a distance of 680,000 km (0.68 Gm). It was transiting Constellation Virgo at the time in Ecliptic alignment with M104 Sombrero Galaxy.

Although the close approach distance was farther away than the Moon this object nevertheless grabbed NASA’s attention because it passed through the exact position Earth had held only six hours earlier.

Personally I find it quite a coincidence that Asteroid Asclepius was ‘discovered’ during a close encounter with Earth while we were both “in Virgo,” the Zodiac Sign that most represents and speaks to the issues of Earth Mother and her plight. Health, Work and Service to Humanity head the list of topics contained in Zodiac sign Virgo’s Astrological database. Since the Master Healer is on a mission of Planetary Healing in service to Gaia and the species that inhabit her including the most precious and dangerous, Humanity, this shocking near-intersection of our transits in Virgo seems to offer a particularly cogent message.

Effects of an impact event: an analysis of asteroid 1989FC

Tom Gilchrist
Department of Geography, University of Reading
January 2009

Abstract

It is said that we live in a cosmic shooting gallery, under constant threat of orbital bombardment by the many objects that hurtle through the Solar System at breathtaking speeds each and every day. Near-Earth asteroids (NEAs) have collided with our planet throughout its existence; more frequently during some time periods than others. Astronomers have discovered over 3000 NEAs of all sizes, including over 1500 NEAs with a diameter greater than 1 km – the so-called extinction event asteroids. The consequences of an impact for our civilization cannot be overstated, yet, as encounters with NEAs are so rare, no government strategy exists to deal with one. This paper considers one of these objects that caught the public eye and attention, and examines what the likely sequence of events would be had that asteroid impacted with the Earth. It also discusses the response to the threat of an impact by those international bodies and scientific agencies that have a remit to negate the hazard.
Keywords: impact, asteroid, Asclepius, 1989, Earth, detection, E.L.E., hazard.

Introduction

Observed for more than 25 years, and well tracked, the Apollo1 asteroid 1989FC has thus been assigned a permanent catalogue number and renamed Asclepius2. Therefore the correct way to refer to this asteroid is now (4581) Asclepius; the number 4581 refers to the order that Asclepius was moved from its provisional designation to its new name under the guidelines of the International Astronomical Union. Heralding straight from ancient Greek mythology, Asclepius is not only the god of medicine but is also the love-child of Apollo, himself often associated with the heavens and the sun. Both Apollo and Asclepius are bound together in the Hippocratic Oath that all doctors know by rote; I swear this oath by Apollo physician, by Asclepius, by health and by all the gods and goddesses. It is therefore perhaps a historical irony that Holt and Thomas would choose this particular name for a potential harbinger of death and destruction (Temkin, 2002).

More

I hope you read the above-quoted passages. Both paragraphs, particularly the Introduction, are chock full of goodies for us to take in and apply.

If you check out the Java Applet of Asclepius’s orbit in the JPL Small-Body Database Browser you’ll see his orbital path slings him from just inside the orbit of Venus to almost out to the orbit of Mars. His path is thus confined to the “inner ring” (planets inside the Asteroid Belt that separates Mars from Jupiter) where he can get close to his Solar System allies and helpers

  • Mercury (his Constellation’s Planetary Intelligence),
  • Venus (the Divine Feminine and the origin of the Serpents of Wisdom according to Mark Amaru Pinkham’s book The Return of the Serpents of Wisdom),
  • Earth (Planetary Healer Asclepius’s current ‘patient’), Moon and
  • Mars (our Solar System’s planetary quandary, Scorpion or Serpent of Wisdom?).

Hence Asteroid Asclepius’s travel path finds him interacting routinely with just those Planetary Intelligences that are going to be of the most help to the Master Healer in carrying out the Ophiuchus Agenda on a day-to-day basis.

Knowing nothing more than the few facts I have just shared with you above, how likely is it, do you think, that Asteroid 4581 Asclepius is just a dead space rock orbiting mindlessly around the Sun along with the other millions of rocks out in Space? Well lock me up and throw away the key — I give it zero chance of being sans Intelligence. But wait a minute. I’ve been tracking Asteroid Asclepius for a number of years and you’re just now awakening to the fact that there is such an object out there. So let me get you started tracking his movements and maybe through your observations and experiences you will catch up with me soon enough.

Asteroid Asclepius at 98° Ecliptic Longitude

Now that I’ve shared my anecdotes about how the celestial energies I love inspire me and helped me find my Gratitude Space today, let’s get down to work. Get out your planetarium program and your Astronomology Profile if you have one and follow along.

Starting at the Ecliptic and Equatorial Plane coordinates for Asteroid Asclepius (given above) we explore the surrounding area in our planetarium programs and find that he is …

  1. Transiting Constellation Gemini
  2. Separating from an alignment with NGC 2237 Rosette Nebula in Constellation Monoceros the Unicorn (located at 098.1070° Ecliptic Longitude, -18.1792° Ecliptic Latitude) and
  3. In just a few days Asteroid Asclepius will be in a conjunction with Mars at Delta Gemini.

If you have been following the posts in Astronomologer and Startistics on a regular basis, you will recognize that this rendezvous between the Serpent Holder and the Serpent has long been forecast. The news broke just prior to June Solstice when the first crop circle serpent dropped down into a field near Stonehenge, which is the planetary supercomputer — or planetary “brain” if you will.

Doesn’t this seem like more than a coincidence to you? I know it does to me.

Exploring Gemini & key fixed star Wasat

Borrowed from Wikipedia | Click to see full article

Fixed star Delta Gemini is named “Wasat” which literally means “the middle”. It is located in the lap of the Pollux twin.

In the myth, the twins shared the same mother but had different fathers (immortal Zeus and mortal Tyndareus), which meant that Pollux was immortal and Castor was mortal. When Castor was killed, Pollux asked Zeus to let him share his own immortality with his twin to keep them together and they were transformed into the Gemini constellation. The pair were regarded as the patrons of sailors, to whom they appeared as St. Elmo’s fire.

Wasat’s Ecliptic coordinates are currently 108.6822° Ecliptic Longitude and -00.1770° Ecliptic Latitude.

The double-zero number means Wasat is literally resting on the Ecliptic Plane in the middle of the Zodiac Belt zone. The Ecliptic Plane is the path which from Earth’s view is traveled by the Sun through the Zodiac constellations. This year when the Sun traveled across Wasat, its Ecliptic Latitude was approximately  -00.0004°3.

So you can see that although this star may not be an astronomical giant in terms of magnitude, its position is an awfully hot one. You can see how it is that this constellation picks up high grade usable solar power during the solar transits of the Gemini Mind and how critical it is metaphysically speaking that our thoughts be correct ones.

Working with Gemini sector objects including the Rosette Nebula

Delta Gemini, Wasat, marks a Critical Degree of the new Zodiac Belt grid. So make note of that. In this post I will be divulging introductory level material only. Anyone who is interested in the deeper aspects is invited to check out Classes & Workshops.

In the Western Hermetic version of the Qabalah (based on the Hebrew letters) and specifically using as a filing cabinet the Spiritual Tarot, we find the following attributes for Gemini:

  • The path of Zain the Lovers (or Brothers)
  • The sign Gemini (Mutable Air)
  • Simple Letter (Sensory Gateway): Smell
  • Esoteric Title: The Children of the Voice; The Oracle of the Mighty Gods

As an example of how I would use these attributes to sculpt an interpretation let’s follow the ‘players’ that are traveling through Constellation Gemini today: Mars and Asteroid Asclepius.

Asteroid 4581 Asclepius today (as I was writing this post) is aligned with the Rosette Nebula in Constellation Monoceros the Unicorn. Anyone who is familiar with Unicorn legends will know that the Unicorn besides being magical has supernatural healing powers and the healing power is in the Unicorn’s Horn.  A day or so from now Asteroid Asclepius will be aligning with the Cone Nebula in the Horn of the Unicorn.

And speaking of Unicorns, I want to note for the record here so I don’t totally lose track of it the fact that Solar Feminine Ophiuchus Celia Fenn has just returned from a trip to Lapland where she participated in a Ceremony for the Fairies in Finland. This seems to connect with the Rose and the Unicorn and the lands associated with Camelot and Avalon (Glastonbury Tor) in the U.K. Although these ideas may seem to be dancing abstractly around us, they are all connected.

With Mars as Ophiuchus’s Serpent of Wisdom only a few days’ transit away from where Asteroid Asclepius is now (‘now’ being August 26, 2011), those who have been reading previous articles on Startistics and Astronomologer can see the progress the Master Healer is making and where the new 13th Constellation’s energies are focused — on our Gemini Minds — where Healing & Wisdom is most needed. In fact, if we cannot get Healing & Wisdom into our Gemini Minds, there is no hope for us on this planet.

Stringing keywords & concepts together to interpret the message

Mars and Asclepius in Constellation Gemini are acting on all of us today, prompting us to learn what health and wisdom are all about. In the process of learning what is true it is imperative that we explore many resources and points of view. Until we have done that, what we read and hear are just somebody else’s perspective through their own filters and you are just passing on what you think you heard.

And that goes for anything you read on my sites too. Double-check me. Do some research on your own.

Mars is by tradition both blood and muscle. Exercise the blood and muscle in your Gemini-Mind to take back the power of thought. Research, contrast and compare — but be sure to apply the vital elements of critical thinking. If you don’t know what those elements are, Google “critical thinking” and learn. The Internet is an online Worldwide University. Take full advantage of it but be discerning while you are learning from it. Learn to think for yourself!

The Gift of Love

Here is a Rose for you from Asteroid Asclepius, the Rosette Nebula and me. And if nobody else has told you ‘I love you’ yet today, I’m telling you. I love you!

Thank you for sharing in the joys of my Earth Walk. There is nothing in this life I love more than this work that I do — today I’m living my Bliss. It is because of you that I get to give away what has so freely been given to me so we can increase the bounty together and have the experience of sharing the Gift of Love with others.

  1. A series of Earth-crossing Near Earth Asteroids – themselves defined as objects having perihelion distances (point of closest approach to the sun) less than 1.3 AU (1 AU is the distance from the Earth to the Sun) – that have orbital semi-major axes larger than Earth’s. Apollo objects have orbits further from the sun than the Earth and orbital periods greater than one standard year (McGuire et al., 2002).
  2. So done by Henry E. Holt and Norman G. Thomas; co-discoverers. The initial name was given as 1989FC due to ’1989′ being the year of discovery, ‘F’ denoting discovery in the sixth-half of the year (end of March), and ‘C’ to indicate that the asteroid was the third discovered in that period (IAU, 2007).
  3. Coordinates given are all according to my planetarium program — results can vary from program to program.

About Donna

I initiated my mysticism & occult path with a course in Astrology from the Rosicrucian Fellowship in 1970. In 1987 as I was preparing to become a professional Astrologer I bought a sky atlas for fun and found constellation Ophiuchus walking along the zodiac belt. I was shocked. I've dedicated myself to evolving Astrology for the New Age ever since then. Let those with the ears to hear, hear. Take what resonates. Leave the rest.
