Ophiuchus tips for Astrologers ~ unearthing Ophiuchus

caduceus

Caduceus - "Angel of Healing" | by Sculptor James N. Muir, Dec. 1 Ophiuchus

Maybe it’s Mercury combust with the Sun — I’ve tried to carve this post up but the parts I’m trying to get rid of are still here after three ruthless edit attempts. So perhaps there is something worth saving that somebody out there needs to read. So I’ll post this and just let ‘er rip …

Before we get into the yins and yangs of interpreting Ophiuchus, we need to understand what’s at stake so we have the ability to fully respond to both the people we serve and to Source in the most helpful and supportive manner.

Who or what is an ophiuchus?

Although Ophiuchus natives are in varying stages of being awake and aware, with a past life history as deep as an ocean teeming with life they are virtually the Salt of the Earth.

There is one question that always takes me by surprise when I meet a new Ophiuchus who asks it. And that question is, What are my characteristics? My response is usually something like, You are the Ophiuchus. What are you like? I don’t mean my response to be rude. I’m just being probative.

Their completely legitimate question probably stems from their general confusion over being classified for thousands of years as either Tropical Sagittarius or Sidereal Scorpio. This state of confusion makes a profound statement concerning the dangers inherent in the practice of Astrology. Astrologers are responsible for programming people’s thoughts and feelings about themselves and the world they live in.

Think about that for a moment. This epiphany that light-washed me in 1987 had the effect of propelling me into Research instead of fueling my need to open an Astrology practice, which is where I was headed on that fateful day when I purchased my first Sky Atlas for Astronomy Beginners.

The process of discovering that which is not in physical evidence

The 13th Constellation shock wave hit me hard. I could not embark upon the budding Astrology career I had aborted nor could I go back to the job I quit for the sake of it. Someone up there was by that time wearing an evil grin, I’m convinced of it.

I was reluctant to follow the rush-to-publish trend simply on the basis that I thought I knew more than anyone else. I chalked that up to an ego problem and held myself in check. But I already knew that the Greek myth was only the tip of the iceberg. Imhotep was close enough to the waterline of the exploratory vessel I had boarded to be visible — but you had to be looking into the water to see it.

Imhotep

And then one day the reason why I was right to hold my horses was validated when I finally got around to writing down the bones in a book project I started on February 25, 2005, the Chinese Year of the Rooster (the nominal price charged by the Greek God of Healing for his services is the sacrifice of a cock). As I began to add muscle and meat to the skeletal structure of my book, I found that the pieces of the story I’d collected weren’t fitting together very well. And I hadn’t found my own voice. I was writing to an audience I imagined wouldn’t like the book unless it looked like a book and sounded like a book — you know what I mean. But the order of my priorities didn’t yield a slot for taking the time to learn how to write a book properly.

Writing straight from the heart

When I gave up writing by the rules and started writing for myself and to Ophiuchus everything magically changed.

Myth was all we had to work with at first, starting with the myth of Asclepius, but when I “let go and let god/dess” I began writing things down that seemed to come out of nowhere. They often started out as retold versions of whatever myth I was locked into at the time. And then story lines came pouring out of me like the Nile River in inundation — they were all over the place often bringing in scenes from interlinked myths that had their origins in a totally different part of the globe. Picture a compressed “zip file” being extracted. That’s exactly what it was like.

It was hard to trim the content down to only what was really relevant. The writing process was fun and felt good. All of it was relevant to a degree; it’s just that a lot of it was like this article — a context builder just a little left of center.

Though my voyage of discovery is not over even now it is time for me to share what I had been asked to keep out of the Public Eye until people got over their fear of snakes and the number 13. Hopefully by this time what I’m about to write down is going to be unsurprising and anticlimactic and we can all process it in the ordinary course of welcoming Constellation Ophiuchus into our hearts. Inasmuch as its place on the Zodiac Belt isn’t likely to be changing anytime soon, the Ophiuchus Celestial Intelligence has work to do here and as I have been reminded more than once, it doesn’t require anyone’s permission to be what it is and do what it does. You may as well ask the stars not to shine.

Ophiuchus in the Galactic Earth hot zone

And just exactly what is it Ophiuchus is here to do?

Just one look at the constellation’s neighborhood should tell you something about that. Non-stop heavy hitters are there to greet us everywhere we look. Notice in the screen capture at right Constellation Draco – the Zodiac Dragon resides in the Ophiuchus sector of the celestial sphere immediately North of Hercules.

Here’s something you Astrology newbies may not be aware of: Earth Mother has more than one Time Grid and Ley Line system.

The North and South magnetic poles (the top and bottom of the planet that anchor our lines of latitude and longitude) incline at a roughly 23.5° angle (“axial tilt”) and are responsible for our seasonal changes.

But there is another set of poles that mark the top and bottom of the sky relative to the planet’s orbital path around the Sun. These are the North and South Zodiac Poles (Ecliptic latitude and longitude measured in decimal degrees beginning at the March Equinoctial point and marking all 360° of the Zodiac Circle).

The North Zodiac Pole resides in back of the head of the Great Zodiac Dragon practically on top of NGC 6543 Cat’s Eye Nebula. Its Right Ascension meridian cuts through the westward edge of Constellations Ophiuchus and Serpens Cauda, intersecting the Ecliptic Plane and the Plane of the Milky Way Galaxy where the Sun will be on 12/21/2012.

This neighborhood also features the three elements of the Scorpion-Eagle Prophecy or as I have been calling it now that Ophiuchus is one of the players, the Scorpion-Serpent-Eagle Alchemy.

  • Scorpius the scorpion with its submissive posture at the feet of the Serpent Holder
  • The Serpent Holder and the Serpent
  • Constellation Aquila the Celestial Eagle, a nextdoor neighbor to both Ophiuchus and the Serpent

The scorpion has only to have its thought form modified by human behavior and social acceptance as has so often in the past been done from age to age and from civilization to civilization1 for this Prophecy to be fulfilled.

The Serpent Holder may not have seemed like a flashy figure when we first met up with it. But it is definitely the tail that wags the dog now.

Raising ophiuchus & goddess consciousness

Minoan Crete Mother GoddessEarly projections on the meaning of Ophiuchus and the characteristics of those born under the Light of its Stars left out the lion’s share of this sign’s most cosmic significance. Its depth of soul and true role in getting Humanity over the hump and into the New Age in a healthy and wholesome state were unfathomable for a long time. And those who began to recognize Ophiuchus and inform us of what traits they could find created important anecdotes and mental bookmarks that are sure getting the job of Raising Ophiuchus Consciousness done, there is no doubt about that.

But there is another quality that lay in wait for us “below the water line” in Constellation Ophiuchus — a genuine treasure the nature of which is yet to be fully absorbed and integrated together with the 13th Constellation in Human Consciousness.

I will never forget the day I was sitting cross-legged in my papasan chair with my laptop on my lap, writing about the role Zeus played in the myth of Asclepius when all of a sudden I found HER — Hera, Zeus’s bitter wife – nameless – in Minoan Crete. There it was, so obvious to me now, Her past life as The Great Goddess at Minoan Crete and how she was tricked out of her lands and her domain, everything she was and stood for usurped.

The image I had been carrying around with me for a decade of the Minoan Serpent Goddess of Crete and the Mother Serpent Goddess flashed in front of me and I knew I’d found the missing pre-Greek matriarchal age Serpent Goddess connection I had a hunch was out there waiting to be unearthed.

You may have already known about that but I didn’t. I sat dumbfounded. There are no words to describe the feeling of having hit cosmic pay dirt of this magnitude. It totally transported me. It was then I knew the story of Ophiuchus wasn’t nearly finished yet.

It was to be yet another year (don’t forget I was working full time at a busy litigation law firm) before I finally got around to reading Pistis Sophia and the saga of the Thirteenth Aeon in proper context so I could put two and two together and get 4. I needed to fully and completely understand the roles Christianity, Gnosticism and Hermeticism played in funding the incredible unifying energy and potential of the 13th Zodiac Constellation.

That was the note on which I closed out the Sun’s transit of Constellation Ophiuchus in the year 2010, bringing me up to January 13, 2011 when Rachel Maddow burst the Time Capsule open worldwide on MSNBC Cable Network and Internet News. That to me was the Starting Gun. I started making calls to local metaphysical shops to get started bringing the message to the people. I redesigned both my web sites to get them ready for serious work. My first lecture was on March 6, and then in mid-May I received the news that my services at the law firm were no longer needed. My boss was retiring and they were reorganizing the firm.

As Above, So Below.

Status report

My research trek across the rest of the globe in search of more footprints of The Master Healer continues. As 12/21/2012 approaches I have a feeling I will be continuing my quest in the lands of the Feathered or Plumed Serpent to round out my Constellation Ophiuchus education.

Asclepius and Hygeia

Asclepius - God of Healing & Wisdom and daughter Hygiea - Goddess of Health

So now you Ophiuchans know why when you ask me your questions about who you are the best answer I can come up with is likely to be something like, gee I don’t know — you’re the Ophiuchus; what are you like? Even after almost 25 years on the quest I still feel more secure asking questions and taking notes. We will be doing this for a while as for the most part and with exceptions, Ophiuchus human units are just waking up.

Whether it is officially admitted as a Zodiac Sign or not, Constellation Ophiuchus has been unveiled and introduced into Mass Consciousness. The quest for knowledge and understanding of Ophiuchus and how to work with its energy is still in its infancy and will be ongoing for a while.

If the Web traffic stats on Astronomologer and Startistics are any indication, then Ophiuchus Awareness and acceptance is in Ascension. Visitor stats are increasing at a steady rate every week.

Finally – to answer your question

Dear Ophiuchus, I can give you my answers to your questions about who you are. But ultimately it is up to you to tell us who you are — it’s not the other way around. That is, unless you want to be programmed like everybody else with a Zodiac Sign parked in their waking and sleeping consciousness that tells them what to think about themselves (whether their actions comport with the mental programs they’re running is debatable but the bottom line is they are complying with the auto-suggestion hypno-process, a problem that keeps the whole of humanity stuck in servitude).

For those who want to play on the Astrology Game Board with a full deck, I will have Ophiuchus Zodiac Sign-type answers to your who am I? questions upcoming in the next post.

In the meantime, while you wait take these pearls of wisdom:

  • Use the Ophiuchus gifts you’ve been given wisely. It is very possible they are unique. You don’t have to be an Ophiuchus native to have an Ophiuchus talent. For instance and by way of a working example, my Sky Chart features Chiron in Constellation Ophiuchus. This pretty much explains why it is I feel so compelled to work with Ophiuchus natives and tend to treat them all as though they were my foster children. In a sense, they are.
  • Always be yourself. Do not attempt to live up to some ideal you read on this or any other web site if it isn’t who you are. The result will not bring you health, wisdom and happiness and it won’t help you get your Soul Agenda completed.

Thank you and Blessed Be.

About Donna

I initiated my mysticism & occult path with a course in Astrology from the Rosicrucian Fellowship in 1970. In 1987 as I was preparing to become a professional Astrologer I bought a sky atlas for fun and found constellation Ophiuchus walking along the zodiac belt. I was shocked. I've dedicated myself to evolving Astrology for the New Age ever since then. Let those with the ears to hear, hear. Take what resonates. Leave the rest.
