About Startistics

StartisticsDonna Provancher – Bio

In my ‘former life’ I was a legal secretary/paralegal with a husband, daughter, home, family, a hobby-business raising and showing AKC purebred dogs, and more than my fair share of personal and hobby association accomplishments.  But none of that was nourishing my soul.

My spiritual path journey had begun quietly in 1970 with a correspondence course in Astrology from The Rosicrucian Fellowship at Oceanside, California.  In those days metaphysical resources were far from mainstream.  But I managed to find the Max Heindel textbooks in a rare-and-used bookstore downtown and also discovered The Controversial Bookstore uptown, which immediately became my favorite haunt.  My first purchase there was a dictionary of mysticism and the occult since I noticed the books I was reading were written in practically a foreign language.

A co-worker showed me her deck of tarot cards and of course I had to have one of those, too.  I purchased my first deck at a magic shop downtown.  The leaflet of instructions wasn’t enough for me; I bought the hardback book that went with it, the first of many books, the first of many tarot decks.  My path was all-consuming.

The more I learned the hungrier I got.  I have studied the kabbalah, sacred texts, hermetics, alchemy, Native American Sacred Path, archaeo-astronomy, mineralogy-crystallography, ancient cultures, alien agendas, ufology … and much more.

In 1987 I got a serious wake-up call.  I had quit my job on the heels of an amicable divorce settlement, intending to practice astrology full time. But something about the events following Harmonic Convergence changed my field of view literally overnight.

In the process of assembling the business and presentation materials I would need I happened upon a sky atlas. This led me to discover Constellation Ophiuchus walking across the Zodiac Belt where I expected to find the scorpion. My primary focus was then and there derailed by my own sense of logic and critical thinking; I shifted gears. I never stopped to become a professional astrologer.

After what I found I didn’t feel qualified anymore.  But I didn’t stop practicing in the real sense of the word ‘practice’.  I got a planetarium program and shifted my view of Astrology upwards to encompass the whole of the sky, each of the 88 constellations and all of the celestial objects floating around in their bellies.

I pounded the pavement.  I got a job recording “Starscopes” on the automated telephone system of a local alternative music radio station and put the word out there was more to Astrology than meets the eye.  The radio station invited me to bring my computer to one of their hosted nights at a local hot spot as a gimmick.  I handed out leaflets that introduced the mythology and history of Constellation Ophiuchus and I ran Astrology charts for anyone interested.

In early 1991, a voice in my head began telling me to get my nose out of the books, it was time to practice what I’d learned. I guess the suggestion wasn’t meant as an option because I soon fell strangely heir to a metaphysical shop – nobody had to die to give it to me and no money was exchanged.

This opportunity gave me multi-level meta-educational resources, a tailor-made professional-social circle, and daily hands-on experience practicing my arts and crafts (or else starve).  I literally lived at the shop until Spring 1993 when the forces that move me moved me from San Diego to the Coachella Valley.

It was suggested to me that I go back to school to change careers, and so I complied.  I enrolled at College of the Desert in Palm Desert, California just in time to catch the new wave cresting over the planet — the Information Superhighway.  During that period I studied not only computer sciences but biology, chemistry, psychology, critical thinking, and more.   I was in my second year of college when Introduction to the Internet was added to the menu of classes offered, and I took it. I became the college’s first student webmaster.

I held that spot until I graduated.  I graduated with two AA degrees in Computer Science and Computer Information Systems, a Computer Science Student of the Year award, a 4.0 GPA, and Honors.  A month after graduation a friend of a friend gave me a number to call and that landed me a job as a database programmer.

In 1997 I added my Startistics web presence to the World Wide Web.  In 2001 my path took me into women’s studies where I met the Divine Feminine, a concept that was totally foreign to my thinking at the time but which has since brought me into a state of balance.  In 2005 I began gathering my Ophiuchus research and assembling it in publishable form.  This is an ongoing project.   In 2010 I took the first two Usui Reiki attunements.

On January 13, 2011 news of a 13th sign on the zodiac entered mainstream consciousness worldwide via major network news and the Internet.  On March 6, 2011 I gave my first introductory talk Astrology, Astronomy, the 13th Sign & You at the Alexandra Institute in San Diego.  Enthusiasm was high.  People are ready.

About the Author

I initiated my mysticism & occult path with a course in Astrology from the Rosicrucian Fellowship in 1970. In 1987 as I was preparing to become a professional Astrologer I bought a sky atlas for fun and found constellation Ophiuchus walking along the zodiac belt. I was shocked. I've dedicated myself to evolving Astrology for the New Age ever since then. Let those with the ears to hear, hear. Take what resonates. Leave the rest.
